Quantum Correlations and Intraband Coherences in Semiconductor Cavity QED
نویسندگان
چکیده
A fully quantized theory of optical interactions with semiconductors reveals quantum correlations between the field and carrier density. These quantum correlations lead to intraband coherences which live much longer than the interband dephasing time; the correlations are observed as oscillations in the time-resolved reflectivity in a pump-probe experiment on a normal-mode microcavity. Coherent control of the microcavity normal modes using phase-locked pump pulses enables considerable enhancement of the intraband oscillations due to quantum interference; the detailed phase dependence is well reproduced by the theory.

Nonlinear Optical studies of the Transient Coherence in the Quantum Hall System
We review recent investigations of the femtosecond non-linear optical response of the two–dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in a strong magnetic field. We probe the Quantum Hall (QH) regime for filling factors ν ∼ 1. Our focus is on the transient coherence induced via optical excitation and on its time evolution during early femtosecond timescales. We simultaneously study the interband and intrab...
متن کاملInfluence of multi-exciton correlations on nonlinear polariton dynamics in semiconductor microcavities
Using two-dimensional spectroscopy, we resolve multi-polariton coherences in quantum wells embedded inside a semiconductor microcavity and elucidate how multi-exciton correlations mediate polariton nonlinear dynamics. We find that polariton correlation strengths depend on spectral overlap with the biexciton resonance and that up to at least four polaritons can be correlated, a higher-order corr...

متن کاملCavity QED with quantum dots in semiconductor microcavities
Cavity quantum electrodynamic (QED) effects are studied in semiconductor microcavities embedded with InGaAs quantum dots. Evidence of weak coupling in the form of lifetime enhancement (the Purcell effect) and inhibition is found in both oxide-apertured micropillars and photonic crystals. In addition, high-efficiency, low-threshold lasing is observed in the photonic crystal cavities where only 2...
متن کاملFast, High Fidelity Quantum Dot Spin Initialization without a Strong Magnetic Field by Two-Photon Processes
Recent demonstrations of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) effects with semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) coupled to microcavities [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] show that these systems are robust and scalable platforms for quantum information science. The QD-cavity QED experiments performed so far treat each QD as a two-level quantum system consisting of a ground state and the single exciton excited state....
